California Red Sided Garters?

I was just curious if anybody here knew a good place to go and look for California Red Sided Garter snakes (infernalis) where it isn't illegal to pester them. I figured that this would probably be a good place to ask. If you know a good spot, I'd really appreciate a reply or an email. Thanks.
