MY GECKO WONT EAT!! PLEASE HELP!

glitterlust Aug 14, 2003 02:48 AM

Hello.. For the past 2 weeks i've been having problems getting my adult male gecko to eat. And this past week i've only seen him eat like 4 crickets, and he used to eat up to 10 a day. I've tryed leaving the crickets in all day, and he still wont eat them... They will walk right in front of him and he does nothing.. Usally just walks away from them totally.. I'm very wurryed about this because i know if its something medical i wont be able to get him to a vet sence i've done called like 20 vets in the like 60 mile radious and no one will work on reptiles. So if anyone has any idea what i can try or something to that sort PLEASE RESPOND!

Have you tried to feed him anything besides crickets? Like mealworms or waxworms?

As for finding a vet, you can try calling the zoo, petstores or wildlife refuges to see whom they refer to for reptile care. Good luck!

That you probably shouldn't leave your crickets in there all day. They really poop up a storm, which means a lot of unnecessary germs in your tank. Plus, you don't want to give them the chance to lay eggs in the tank.

It's a good idea for you to get mealworms. Those you can leave in a small bowl to keep in his tank all day. But make sure he sees them so he knows they're there.

Thanks alot! i'll try that. Last time i used meal worms we wouldn't eat them, but i'll see if he will this time.. He just might be getting bored of crickets...

I agree, he might be getting tired of crickets, so try other things. Try mealworms, waxworms, superworms, he'll eventually see something he likes. good luck,
