adult corn not eating

moko Apr 21, 2007 06:57 PM

Tango has always been a timid eater. He has eaten frozen mice from day one. His tank mate is a very good eater. Tango is twice as big as Ziggy, his tank mate who eats a least twice as much. Now it has been almost two months since Tango has eaten and he is beginning to show signs of weight loss. Is it safe to force feed an adult snake? He is four years old.

A lot of male cornsnakes stop eating this time of year. Keep offering him food (maybe every two weeks), but don't stress. I wouldn't force feed. He should start again after breeding season goes over (at least until the second breeding season).

Hmmm, I hadn't thought of that. I am pretty sure his cage mate is a female. Ziggy doesn't have what I call the "bump" although there have never been any eggs. I had better rethink that one. Thanks for you advice.
