I was taking some pictures last night. I got one of a tank stand I made for a 30 gal long tank we had set up as an aquarium. Now there is a 20 long on it with my 2 corns in it. I made another one, but can't find the pic of it right now. I'll post that one if I can find it.

My neighbor was taking down the cedar siding off of his house. It wasn't stained or painted. I got to take home some of it. many of the boards had bad spots in it. Mainly on the sides. This is one stand I made. Basically, I made 2- 2x4 rectangles. Then cut 4- 2x4's to height. I screwed them to the rectangles on the inside.

After the frame was done, I cut the cedar to the general length I wanted. Then I had to rip them down to different widths. Mainly because many of the cedar boards had bad spots on the sides, bad knots, were broken on the side or whatever.

After ripping, I cut to length and put a rabbit / dado cut on the top edge to hold the band that goes across the front & sides. Cut pieces for the band across front and sides. Nailed & glued everything into place then decided it would be better to have doors. I marked on the boards where I wanted the doors. I pulled those boards back off, cut the opening. Put the smaller pieces back onto the frame.

I then took some more wood and ripped it to width for door frame.
Cut a dado in them. Then cut the wood to size and fit it into the door frame. Put hinges on them. Cut a piece of 1/4" ply to go on the top. That was about it.

Just thought I'd share the picture and basically how I did it. Hopefully if will inspire someone to pick up some used wood from someplace and make somthing aout of it, keep it out of the trash.
What do you think?
Thanks for checking it out.
