The Aliens have landed!!!

triniian Apr 21, 2007 08:20 PM

This past Thursday I received 0.0.4 Dendrobates Tinctorius "Suriname Cobalts" and 0.0.4 Dendrobates Auratus "Costa Rican Green and Black" from Patrick at Saurian and they are fantastic! He was great to work with.

The hope is that with 4 of each, I can at least get 1 pair of each. I am so excited!

Today I couldn't take it anymore and had to take some pics. I lost some quality in the pics making them small enough to view! Sorry for any fuzzzzzzz...

I started with all 4 Tincs in one Viv and all 4 Auratus in another viv. I have watched closely for the last 2 days and have seperated 1 tinc thus far. Who knows what the rest of the weekend will bring, but I'm ready to seperate them as needed. They are all eating voraciously and doing well!

Here are some pics...

1st up is the smallest of my tincs, and the one I had to separate from the others. It's setup in a 2.5gl viv.

Next up are some pics of the other tincs... here is the viv and you can see one spying me down from under the bromeliad.

Here's a closeup of one

Here's another Cobalt

Here's another view of the viv with 2 Cobalts visible.

This is the first of the aliens to get named. This is one of the Auratus and "he" was named "Hook" by the pattern on the back.

And lastly here are two others of the Auratus

Thanks for looking. I am very happy!! I had no idea that these guys were really so active during the day. They are much cooler to look at than any of my snakes!

Congratulations. The real fun has started. It looks as if your auratus are nice and bold--a very good sign.
