question for breeders..

Shadow4108 Apr 21, 2007 09:26 PM

Do breeders have regular normals when they are breeding clutches for morphs? Are they going to be more money then just going to the pet store for one. Do most breeders have them, and just don't list them for sale on their websites?

I know that pet store snakes are usually imported and are cheaper, but are breeders that much more expensive for theirs. I've looked at most of the breeders websites and all are listed as het for something else and usually in the 100's. and none are hatchlings.

I trade most of my normals to a Reptile store that is my rat supplier. They also get some of my Possible Het animals. A third place they go is to customers that buy a morph from me. I have sent off several females with people who have purchased Pastels, Mojaves, etc.

Many times you can find normal hatchlings from breeders at their tables at reptile shows for about $25. They may not be "on display" but behind the table. Be careful though that you check for mites, etc and try to make sure that they are CB or CH and not WC.

I don't normally produce normals but when I do, I usually throw them into a package deal with other morphs. For example, if someone bought a pastel male, I might throw in a normal female for free.

Most if not all breeders produce normals. Most that I know wholesale them out to pet stores. I have and do sell normals but I never post them for sale. If people enquire and they are local I can usually supply them but over 90% are wholesaled out.

Most large breeders produce a substantial number of "normals" and usually do not regularly advertise them since the morph sales take preference. Breeders like myself will offer them at local shows and venues instead, or if asked by inquiring customers and friends.
