when to remove hatchlings

phantompoo Apr 21, 2007 11:17 PM

success....3 eggs..3 seemingly healthy hatchlings.

only one is out and crawling around

When is it ok to touch/handle/remove the snake?
It still has a bit of umbilical left hanging, is that ok?

Take em out and set em up when they're out crawling around.

Dono about the umbilical, though.

Once the babies are crawling around you can move them to their new homes..

It's OK if the cord is still attached. Just leave it alone and it will dry up and fall off in a day or 2...

I take them out as soon as they are fully out of the egg and crawling around. They are placed in their own shoe box with a moist piece of paper towel. I umbilical stub is usually gone within a few days.

BTW, Congrats!!
