Cinnamon?

j3nnay Apr 21, 2007 11:23 PM

I went to the IRBA convention today and saw a Cinnamon Pastel in person for the first time today...gotta admit I wasn't very impressed. Maybe the one I saw just wasn't a good example, but to me it honestly just looked like a nifty lookin normal.

Does anyone have any good pictures of Cinnamons they'd like to post to prove me wrong? Babies, juvies, adults, whatever you've got

Thanks much!

The world is about to end....We are back to "cinnamons look like normals".

When Cinnamons were first introduced, people said they looked like normals. Then they were the best thing in the world. Now they look like normals again.

Remember the good old days when Cinnamons were AWESOME and we could have flame wars on Kingsnake.

Well, Mike...

It is what it is.

Here is my Cinny.

Unfortunately, the photo I offered is a bit artistic and doesn't show the true cinny traits to the undiscerning eye. I apologize for that...

Dark heads are a good sign, as well as flames and floating circles.

I could still see the dark head and flames somewhat... Cool picture though

Well, you gotta admit, it WOULD be pretty easy to mistake one for a normal if you weren't looking for a cinnamon. They just seem like one of the more subtle morphs.

Hopefully there's no flame wars this time

Very, very nice!!

one of these. I'm not crazy about cinnamons, but I am about pewters.

Not so subtle when mixed with other traits.

Here is a Black Pastel I produced last year...

And a Normal for comparison...

The black pastels I can see, not quite as knock-your-socks-off obvious as a spider or regular pastel, but it's there. And pretty.

This is a female cinny that I held back from this year.

j3nnay Apr 22, 2007 07:59 AM

Again, in this one I can see the cinnamon traits... I really suspect the snake I saw was just not that great of a cinnamon.

Thank you!

I guess I better like these. I'm gonna have about 40 eggs from this guy in the next month. They aren't the greatest looking by themselves. But you have to look at what combos they can make. The reason I bought one last year, is because I want supers. I can't wait to have 15 or 20 all black female balls around to breed into other things. Many make white, but only one makes black, grasshopper Some cinnies are definitely drab and plain looking, but if you get the right one, they have really impressive flames and blushing. I'm very satisfied with mine. I hope his offspring turn out looking just like him.

Oz Apr 22, 2007 08:28 AM

It's true that they are not that extraordinary by themselves, but it's the potential they hold. I myself love the deep orange in a black pastel. I am sure you would be impressed with a silver streak or silver bullet. Not to mention the pewter and super cinny. And there is still a lot of other potential combos that have yet to be produced...

The Super Cinny or Black Pastel Pied should be crazy!

Cinnamons do look a little like a normal. It does take a little bit of experience and an eye for the proper traits to be able to pick them out, or appreciate them in their heterozygous form. However, they do produce supers which are super sweet, and not white.

Hopefully this year we'll finally see the super cinnamon pied. That should help the cinnamons reputation.

j3nnay Apr 22, 2007 02:54 PM

All of the examples I've seen on this forum are noticeably cinnamons, however, anything but a stellar example of a cinnamon could be easily mistaken for a normal by someone who wasn't looking for a cinnamon. I showed the pictures to my best guy friend and he said "Am I supposed to be seeing something different between these ones and yours?"

The combos and supers are awesome, but the het form just isn't quite as spectacular.

Note: I am NOT bashing the cinnamon! In any way, shape, or form! I'm just saying...it's not as blaringly obvious as some other morphs.
