He's cute! From the back, looks like a male with the sharp V
anal scutes sticking out. Mine had relatively small gulars at
that size also, they need more size before you can see GULARS
gigantic! So I'd guess a male, but you can't really sex them
prior to 12-14 inches and even then it's hazy. Unless they
demonstrate to you they're male (mine did at 7 pounds), then you'd
know. I believe most sulcatas are incubated to be males which
also tend to grow more quickly, of course there are always
exceptions. Don't ask me why they would incubate them like that
I don't know unless it's a shorter time period at a higher temp
which would make them saleable sooner. I don't mess with breeding
though just my guess. Whatever you do and no matter how much
you trust your dog, don't leave them unsupervised. All too common
tragedy of a dog that never hurt a fly, will unexpectedly maul
a tortoise. I've been on this forum for many years, and yes
