Het is a short form of Heterozygous which means a gene pair has one mutant gene and one normal as described in the following definition from NERD (just because I am too lazy to type it out)

Heterozygous – possessing two different genes for a given trait. An animal with one mutated, recessive gene still appears normal; its mutated gene can be inherited by future offspring. A codominant animal is heterozygous for the dominant form of its mutated gene, yet is different in appearance than both the wild-type and homozygous forms.

How can I know the animals are het for something. For example het for hypo or het for translucent.
Can we just know those het animals by their color?

only way to be able to tell is by the trust of the breeder and the bloodlines. a breeder can tell you the dragons is HET for whatever, hypo, trans, etc, but in actuality it may not be. but most reputable breeders speak the truth, the ones worth buying from anyways.
