incubator ?'s

liquidfire Apr 22, 2007 07:09 PM

Hi,
I'm looking to get an incubator for my bearded dragons. What would you recomend? The problem I'm haveing is the place where I live gets to the upper 90's in the summer. I have no cool place in my place when it gets that hot. I know I need one that cools as well as heats. I'm just looking for input. I have one female right now but will expand in the next year to two or three females. I don't want to keep buying incubators. So any sugestions please keep that in mind.
Thanks to all who reply.

I suggest an air conditioner. I don't know of any incubators that can actually cool themselves down, most just turn off once temps reach the maximum temp, relying on a cooler outside temp to cool off the inside. 90F or higher will kill most reptiles eggs, including bearded dragons.

There may be incubators out there that both heat and cool but i suspect they are pretty expensive. You may be better off buying a small portable AC unit and set it up in the room you will keep the eggs and use it to keep the temps at 80 F and the incubator to keep the eggs around 85f.
