Need latches and hinges for glass front

jordanm Apr 22, 2007 08:14 PM

I'm about to make a set of cages with fold down front acrylic doors. I'm trying to find some basic metal piano hinges that aren't too large 1"x1.5" or so. And some latches to close them. I guess boaphile type stuff? They are just going to be for 1/4" thick PVCX cages with 1/4" clear acrylic doors. Preferrably something white but whatever is fine, they dont have to be pretty. Don't need a ton probably 10 sets of each or maybe 15 sets of hinges if I use 3 a cage. I looked through Outwater and cant seem to find what I need. Thanks for any help.

I purchased plastic thumb tabs from a woodcraft store in Indianapolis, IIRC. Acrylic hinges I have purchased from USPlastic. USPlastic was a bit spendy but were able to fill the small order quickly.

Chris,

Thanks for your help. I actually picked up some hinges from HD, overpriced but not a big deal. I'm still searching for latches though. Thumb tabs would work, or if I flush mount it anything really would work. I was trying to find something a little fancier but I think that is what I will end up settling on.
