Insects on Beardie Eggs?

H_1337_K Apr 23, 2007 01:07 AM

Hello,

I would appreciate it if someone could offer some info/help.

Today, upon my usual checking of the beardie eggs, I found little smaller than a pinhead sized white bugs on one of my eggs. It looks like they had either come out of the egg itself of were feasting on that egg.

I immediately checked the other eggs and changed the vermiculite.

Any idea what they might have been and how to keep them away?

Also,

In my incubator I am using Tupperware containers with the lid just resting on the top the container, would it be advisable to make a small hole or two in the lid itself, or keep it as is?

Many thanks,

H_1337_K

Yes as b22 says, wash them gently under running water, and if an egg looks no good or has a hole in it, there is your problem, fresh substrate under, i do not cover mij eggs at all, i did once had got mite, but if you leave them open, they seem to do better. With a lid on they can get too wet, and this can also lead to problems. good luck.
