I've searched high and low, but to no avail.

Black Rats are wonderful snakes and are easy to keep. I am from the south eastern section of Virginia and these snakes are seen a lot around here. One of the things I like about our Black Rats is how dark they are. You see very little if any pattern in adults from this area. Our Black Rats also have silver gray eyes. I have seen photos of Black Rats from more western states that show much more pattern and have orange colored eyes.
If you find a breeder, you might want to see pictures of the parrents and ask where they are from in the United States. (Yes, they are also found in Canada, but I think they are all protected by law up there.)
