Rabbits are better, nutritionally speaking. They have a much higher protien and less fat percentage and they offer more roughage for optimum digestion and fecal development.

So, Why many zoos feed theri big snakes with pigs?

HighEndHerpsInc Apr 29, 2007 02:35 PM

It saves money. The larger a feed animal is the cheaper it is by the pound, generally speaking. We too feed our giant pythons 40 to 60 pound pigs. We operate our own pig farm in addition to operating our own rabbitry and rattery buildings. But when the choice to feed a giant gal is 4 or 5 rabbits, or one pig, the answer is easy.
