REP. ISETT LAYS OUT AGGRESSIVE LEGISLATIVE AGENDA THIS WEEK

For Immediate Release
Tuesday, April 17, 2007

This week in Austin, Representative Carl Isett (Lubbock) lays out an aggressive legislative agenda to restrict growth of state government (HB 3533), improve and streamline state contracting practices (HB 2918), and clean-up customs brokers procedures to fight fraud (HB 2324). He also laid out a bill that would repeal what many Texans feel to be an unfair tax on motor vehicles (HB 60) and a bill designed to safeguard the privacy of personal information (HB 59).

"There is a natural tendency for government to grow. It can only do so by consuming more money and encroaching more intrusively in our lives." commented Isett.

"My constituents are very concerned about the issues of higher taxes, privacy of their personal information and the complexity and bureaucracy involved in trying to do business with the state". Many of the 12 bills he'll lay out this week are designed to limit state government growth as well as help to make it more efficient and effective.

In addition to bills that restrict government growth, Isett will introduce a bill this week that will assist in the preservation of some of Texas' historical buildings (HB2621).

So how does he square the need/desire to limit gov growth with the need to hire more TPWD LE officers to enforce a law that discriminates against otherwise law abiding individuals? Hmmmmm.

This whole mess is a study in contradiction:

A contradiction of the stated mission and philosophy of TWPD
A contradiction of Republican political ideology
A contradiction of the term wildlife sanctuary
A contradiction of culture
A contradiction of tourism
A contradiction of recreation
A contradiction of fairness.
