Spice has laid her eggs...

johne Apr 23, 2007 05:36 PM

I just left this morning for three days, and she laid all five on the bottom of the tank and not in her hide box. From what my wife says, they looked "OK." One was on the rock, and the rest were neither here nor there. She has been going in and digging for several days now. I'm really shocked he decided to lay outside. I tried to explain what to do over the phone, so I hope when I get home on Wednesday they look good.

This will be the first year in a while that I have incubated any eggs. I have been keeping them outside the last several years and never got any eggs. Conditions were less than favorable where I had my pen. I hope to get some babies this year. I travel so much now, it may be difficult.

Wish me luck,

John

I'm still using the Hova-bator that my wife found at a garage sale for $1.00 (that is one dollar). Most wives (except the ones that hang out here) would have no idea what that styrofoam box was sitting up on a shelf at a garage sale.

Would you have noticed it yourself if your wife hadnt spotted it? I mean, women have very keen eyes for these things, when they know what they're looking for, ha ha

Bet that was the best quid you ever spent

I amost never go to garage sales...this one peaked my interest though for obvious reasons. When I used to breed African Cichlids I met a really cool guy who was having a garage sale. He took me in his basement (insert sick jokes here) and showed me his large collection of cichlids. He was moving from the state and sold me all kinds of cool fish for just a few cents each. I bought a lot of awesome fish for 50 cents that were commonly sold at the pet stores for $9.00 each.
