what is wrong with turtles mouth??????

Turtle100 Apr 23, 2007 07:20 PM

HI this is a 4 year old eastern painted turtle and I have noticed a problem with its Mouth/ beak. It seem to be loosing its Color. Or is it just overgrown or reseeding? It looks different from say 4 months ago. I just noticed it a few days ago. The turtle eats well basks and swims normally. The eyes are bright and clear and the shell is hard as a rock. I just put in a new UV bulb last week the other one was about 5 months past its " 1 year mark". Yes I know life had just gotten away from me and I forgot about it. So could this be due to a UV insufficiency? Of what is everyones thoughts. Again Shell is Nice and hard no soft spots. And the turtle is eating like a freak as usual. The beak area just seems to be loosing color. Thanks

It looks to me like part of it has broken off. It's jagged looking.
What has the turtle been eating? What type of "cage furniture" is in the enclosure?
