green house living in colder climates

does anyone out there in the colder regions keep their torts in a green house type of enclose to extend the season. I am going to build one this spring and am in the design phase right now. I have been collecting glass for a while to use and am looking for ideas on sizes, shapes, temperature control ect. any input would be apriciated
