Dying tail?

i_heart_geckos Apr 23, 2007 10:36 PM

My marbled gecko's tail is dying? The last little bit of it is cold, and shedding constantly, and when I came home from work tonight, it looked like the very tip of it had bled or something. Is there anything I can do? Or do I just have to let that part of the tail dye and fall off? Any and all help appreciated!

Are you sure some of the shed skin has not cut of circulation? Sometimes it can with tips of tails or toes. Maybe you can put a dab of mineral oil on the tip and help the shed skin come off.

If the tail tip is black then it probably is damaged, could have even caught it on something, I have had collareds do this to their tail tips, and I use a cotton ball saturated with peroxide, and clean it and see how it heals. If it continues to blacken or spread up the tail you have to have it taken off(the tip) by your vet.

Hope he does okay ! let us know
