a prolapse (having inner parts hanging outside of the body through the vent) is a bad thing. If it is one of the hemipenies hanging outside the body, it can become infected, dry out etc. Right now, I suggest removing him from his cage and all cage mates, put him in a bowl of luke warm water (around 70F) that has sugar dissolved in it. The warm sugar water will help reduce swelling and hopefully the prolapse will correct itself and go back into the body.
If it doesn't after a good long soak, take him to a vet.
i would not do anything. it should go back in on its own, just leave him alone. you can do more harm (including the vet) trying to mess with it. you may wish to speak to anthony caponetto about this or visit his forum, as this has been discussed in great length in the past.

unfortunatly no. so im just keeping the cage as clean as possible so hopefully no infection will occur. Do you know what caused this? i had him in with a female, did that have anything to do with it?? cuz they just finished breeding a while back. she laid to perfect eggs is the only good thing that has happened. anyways thanks for your help, ill let ya know if it ever goes away.

hey, It went back in!! he was licking it last night, and then this morning it had gone back in. i thought at first he had bit it off cuz it had died or gotten infected, but looking at the bulge in his tail it looks to be all there on both sides. anyways thanks for all your help. id post a picture but computer stuff like that goes right over my head.

Good to hear it Josh. And let this be a lesson to you, no more using the centerfolds as cage liners from now on...
