Points of interest from a conversation I just had with the Calendar Committed Clerk:
1) They currently have 312 bills in their committee plus another 60 or 70 that just came to them.
2) The committee (mainly the chairman, Beverly Woolley) prioritizes the bills to determine when or if they will be sent to the floor.
3) The house is running about two days behind on bills sent to them by the Calendar Committee. (Several hours of floor debate yesterday was spent on one bill.)
4) They DO NOT HAVE HB 2414 yet !!!
5) It is often 2-3 days from the time L&CC “transfers” a bill to the time they get the Committee Report. They are not able to consider a bill until AFTER they get the committee report. (I am set-up to get alerts whenever ANY action is taken on HB 2414. I’ll post an update when the Committee Report is sent.)
My gut impression is that HB 2414 will die in the House w/o ever having a vote. This is just my opinion. It is NOT based on any specific comments from anyone, just reviews of past time lines end-of-session deadlines
