Good bye Pandora RIP

danktat Apr 24, 2007 03:18 PM

I found Pandora (my 7.5 foot Suriname female) lifeless earlier today . If you can recall she was having a really good breeding and all was going well. Then I separated them for a feed and about a week later she regurged. I stopped all breeding and was in the process of trying to get her back on a regular feed schedule before attempting again next season. I was going to feed her in two more days a Very small rat as it would have been the two week mark. She didn't make it. I took her to the "emergency" vet clinic and basically lied to them and said she must have died on the way there (to prevent having to schedule and appointment for a necropsy) If they knew she was dead before I left the house they would have had me freeze her and wait. She was cut open (at my request) and what was found was a couple of tumors in her digestive tract I was told both on the stomache and intestine. That had to be a TERRIBLE way to go. This is hitting me pretty hard as I am just getting back in from the vet. ($685 bill by the way also sucks). Anyway I just thought I would let you all know what was going on who have been keeping up with my collection and her breeding progress. Guess there will be no laddertail babies from her

So sorry to hear that buddy. It's always a sad thing to lose a pet and I know how much she meant to you.

Hopefully you can find some peace in knowing that you are helping to bring many more beautiful suri's into this world with your other breeding.

Matt

Everyone has been there at some time or another if you have been a keeper or in this business for any length of time. My first boa lost came as a double whammy. My dad and I purchased 2 sick boas. At the time we had no idea or what symptoms would show a respiratory infection. We took the two to the vet and were given antibiotics. We soaked them, increased heat and patted them daily. They were nearly on the way to recovery; unfortunately we put them upstairs at our house which was the hottest place at the time when our A/C unit went out on us. This was during the middle of summer here in NC. Needless to say they didn't stand a chance and I was tore up for weeks over it because we were new to this and they were both breeding sized females. Every time this kind of thing happens it prepares you for the worst and makes one appreciate what they have that much more. This hobby requires a certain amount of callous, without it, these setbacks would turn us on our love for the hobby

Sorry for your loss, she was a beautiful animal. Adam

and my deepest condolences. She was a beauty and the way you care about your animals really shows through your posts. I know this has got to be hard. It sucks when they go like that so young for no good reason.

Best of luck with your other projects this season.

Billy
