blazinbrickcity Apr 24, 2007 11:24 PM

Hey..
This is my first post..I've owned a ball python for a few years now but im a newb with corn snakes.. i went to the reptile expo in white plains, ny this past weekend and bought 2 gorgeous baby corns..one female snow and one male hypo aztec crimson.. I have them housed together in a nicely set up 20 gal for now and they seem to be doing fine together..they have already eaten their first meal and are very active at night..
but i need to know, can they be housed together safely? and for how long? i eventually want to try breeding them but i dont know if they can be kept together or would i be better off keepin them seperate?
now that i have these, i already want another pair maybe a lavender and ghost..should i keep the pair seperate in another tank, or all together, or all four seperate or can i introduce another female with my first pair? which sexes can be housed together...need some advice! thanks

I see the post is old, but I'll answer it anyway.
I kept several corns together with no severe harm to them, but there are many disadvantages.
I eventually built a snake rack for them.
1. You have to feed them in seperate containers. I used the big deli cups, then the jumbo sherbet containers with holes melted in them. It worked, but was a pain.
2. If one of your snakes puked, which one was it? Seriously. That alone is reason enough. Stop reading now.
3. If you have several in the tank and they look similar, you won't handle ALL of them, just most of them. One of mine had a retained tail shed, he lost 1/4" of his tail. (Yeah, it will grow back, but that's not the point.) If you had just two it might be ok....
4. You might have eggs in your water bowl someday....
ETC.....

Agree with everything you said. I never house snakes together, that's just stressful to them and for someone like myself who documents all of their events and functions, it is impossible to figure out who did what and when.

However, your snake's tail will NEVER grow back. They don't regenerate.
