I saw such a pretty cichlid tank on the forums it sparked my fish addiction again. So here is a 3 month old Amazon Basin Inspired tank. The plants still have a lot of growing to do, and the final touch will be a large school of neons but it is coming around.
Thanks Kim

Wow, that is really nice. I can't wait to get my South American dwarf cichlid tank going, but it will be a few more years...I'll just look at others tanks until then

What is the secret to cleaning when you use live plants?

We use the cyphon thing to empty half & then the magnet side scrapers.

Our light is on a timer & tank out of direct light & we still get the green gunk. I guess I need to see if apple snails are available here yet.

Gorgeous tank!

We use a c02 injector to keep the plants happy and lots of plant food, they sell foods that dont supply nutirets to alage so you dont have too much growth. We also have a pair of Albino Bushynose Plecos in the tank they do a great job with clean up. Under the tank is actually a 20 gallon sump, i do all of my water changes out of the sump once a month. We also have one of those magnetic alage scrappers that i use once a week ....

Thanks
Kim

Your tank is gorgeous! Like a living work of art. I love the tanks that look like a slice of a natural habitat.

Simply beautiful!
