Calendar Committee Meeting @ 8:45AM

Eby Apr 25, 2007 05:34 PM

I just got a notice that the Calendar Committee set a meeting for 8:45 tomorrow morning.

So, what does that mean for HB 2414?

1) Probably nothing. I doubt they'll do anything on this bill just yet (they currently have a backlog of about 400 bills).

2) If (as some fear) they plan to rush this through "as is" while blowing smoke up our a$$es, this will get placed on the calendar during this meeting (likely with-out any rule requiring amendments be filed in advance).

3) If (as some hope) they plan to rush this through with an acceptable amendment to exclude herps, this may get placed on the calendar during this meeting (likely with a rule requiring amendments be filed in advance).

4) If they have already decided to just let this die in committee, they will move that it NOT be placed on the calendar at this time.

This is just my opinion based on my review of how other bills have been handled by this committee. Regardless of what they do (or don't do), don't celebrate or mourn just yet. Nothing they can do tomorrow will be final.

Looks like they went with option one. No action was taken on HB 2414. Hopefully, they'll just keep sitting on it.
