Adult Male ruthvens max size?

Malays Apr 25, 2007 06:21 PM

Hello
I have a 3 year old Male ruthven. He currently lives in a 36 long-14 inch wide-14 high enclosure.
He is about 38 inches long but active . I am going to get him a 48 inch long enclosure . My question is will he "outgrow" that ?
I know they dont get as big as CA kings .

Thank you

No, he will not outgrow a cage that size. The 36" cage is fine actually for a snake his size. Depending on where in their range they come from, they can get a bit stocky. I've seen 3ft ruthveni that were thicker than any Cal king. I don't recall seeing ruthveni much longer than 40 inches, but I can't remember exactly.

Thanks . I am going to get a 55 gallon tomorrow as that will suffice for him . He is particularly active now . I know its because he wants to breed so a bigger enclosure atleast will give him more room .
Good to know he wont outgrow it as he is stocky.

Thanks
