when to slit up eggs or "hatch" by hand?

chondro55 Aug 14, 2003 10:18 AM

At what point would you slit up your ball python eggs and when would you "hatch" the babies by hand?
This is my first clutch of ball python eggs. Now 54 days into incubation. I can not wait to see them. I am just wondering when things get critical. I know that 60 days is the average nr of days. I am only used to chondro eggs. And I think that 50 days for chondro eggs is critical.

Never pull baby out of egg...period!
I let babies pip then I cut open to see inside.

Here's a recent thread (click here) with a good discussion on this topic. If you can hatch and rear condros, ball pythons are a piece of cake.

Good luck,
Joan
