Health Problem?

macderin Aug 14, 2003 10:26 AM

I just got trio of super hypo tangerine geckos a few weeks. The male and one female are doing fine and she has already layed eggs. The other one has been very scared and has a dark area around her vent. I took her out and am trying to monitor what she is eating, but she appears to eat very little and seems to have running droppings. Anyone have any ideas? Should she go to a vet and if so Anyone know of any good reptile vets in the SF area preferably east bay?
Substrate is paper towels and she is being coaxed with waxworms, mealworms, and crickets.
Thanks for reading

Your little girl should see a vet. I don't know anything about San Fran, but you might email or call SFgeckos and ask them who they would recommend. I've lost their email address, but they have an ad up in the classifieds. If you just respond to that they might be able to help you. Here's a link to it.

Has She been bred before? If so she might be getting to lay eggs, if you haven't looked to see if she had eggs. Mine has had that before but it came after she bred. So that might be a reason. Nothing I can say but if it doesn't go away then take her to the vet ASAP.

Erin,
don't know much about the healt problem, but if you contact the East Bay Vivarium (510-841-1400) they have a really good vet they reccommend.

OK well she layed her eggs right after I posted so I think I will wait and see if that was what was causing the probably. Has anyone else heard of a brownish wet stuff coming out right before the female lays the eggs?
