I live in Arlington, in the middle of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. In my experiences herping here, the snakes I find the most are:
Texas rat snakes
Broadbanded copperheads
Diamondback water snakes
Blotched water snakes
Rough green snakes
Rough earth snakes
Texas brown snakes
Western and red stripe ribbon snakes
Snakes I've seen only a couple of times at most in the last few years:
Eastern hognose
Yellowbelly racer
Great plains ratsnake
Speckled kingsnake
Western coachwhip
Texas garter snake
I haven't found milk snakes or bull snakes in the metroplex yet. There are a few places in the metroplex, like Fort Worth nature center and Cedar Hill state park, as well as smaller parks, a few of which I've had good results. Now, if you're outside of the metroplex, there will probably be much better herping.
