Reptile shows?

eppon Aug 14, 2003 11:02 AM

I've never been to a reptile show, but I heard that they are a good way to find inexpensive supplies. The IRBA is having a show near my area next month so I was thinking about going, but I wanted to have a little preview of what these shows are like

So are shows truly cheaper than going to a petstore or buying online? I need EVERYTHING and was hoping to save a few bucks on supplies (especially on the cage). Also, is the quality the same?

It's true. At reptile expos you can get things for half as much as they would be at the pet store. It's really nice where i live (Illinios) because theres a local reptile show. It happans the first saturday and 3rd sunday of the month. It's great!

Yes, yes and YES. They are a great resource. We went to the NY show and were amazed by the quality and quantity of items and animals for sale. Much cheaper, same quality...just watch out for the few people trying to sell unhealthy looking animals, or animals that are thin, injured, or seem "off". There are always a few, and it's best to steer clear of them. You should be able to find a site that lists the vendors at the show, and you can research them before going.
