DO they? If they do, please give me some symptoms. My iguana licked the rusty fence outside the garden, and now i am just worried to death. I need to know if my iguana really has tetanus or do they have immunity, how to you cure it?
thanks

Holy $#!% [smokes? haha] this is the most original, never-asked-before question in ages! I can't believe we never discussed this.
I sure hope someone knows something about tetanus and animals/reptiles, I myself am completely clueless, but my guess is they are immune. Mammals probably could, but reptiles?
I betcha Kaplan must be thinkin "Darn it I should have included that in my book!" hehehehe.
Great question, hopefully someone will know cuz I am very curious about this topic.

Well, I don't know about reptiles and tetanus in general, but your ig won't get tetanus from licking a fence. The bacteria which causes it requires an anaerobic environment (meaning no air) to grow well--so things like puncture wounds are a big risk because they tend to seal over and become anaerobic. Eating the bacteria wouldn't make your ig sick
