Bahama Mama?

lele Aug 14, 2003 11:18 AM

I just got this Bahamian Anole on Monday and I believe she may be gravid. I was not planning for this but - oh well

She is currently residing with two greens. She stays under basking light almost constantly, is very alert, haven't seen her eat but I am sure she is since the crix keep disappearing from the bowl near her. I will be reading up on the breeding and what-to-expect-next process but would like some comments from personal experience. How can I tell how far along she is? Does she look gravid?

thanks!
lele

hmmm - just as I suspected. Is there anyway to tell how far along she is? Can you direct me to info on breeding, eggs etc. No, I don't have a hovabator as I wasn't suspecting this (you know, the parents are always the last to know! LOL!)

I have her with two greens in a 30 gal-h. She is staying up in one corner and don't see here eating (tho she probably is). The others don't bother her except of course when they climb on her thinking she is a branch since she never moves! ha-ha! One is always right on her. I am not sure if my greens are female but I think so - trying to check them out is not easy. Only got them Monday. Wondering if I should separate her.

thanks!

u dont have to seperate her but you should put a container of moisened eco earth in there for her to lay the eggs. im not sure the BEST way to incubate them without an incubator but i read in the general care and maintenance of green anoles by philip de vosjoli (i think thats right) that you can put them in a deli cup on the cool side of the cage.

wow, she is pretty, I thought they were rougher looking. She looks gravid to me all right. I wonder how many eggs she will lay.
