Crazy Question

JamieRoth Apr 27, 2007 11:44 AM

I'm planning on setting up a webcam that I've converted to see IR light in one of my BRB enclosures in order to view them at night without disturbing them. I'm planning on setting up an IR illuminator above the enclosure in order to provide IR light for the webcam. Anyone know if IR light has any effect on reptiles?

If a reptile is in the sun it's receiving IR light. Just don't know if a BRB that is used to no light at night will be effected by IR illumination at night...

I would think the effects from occasional IR nighttime setups would be minimal if any at all.

I don't think snakes can see into the infrared spectrum, so it shouldn't bother them. Just as we can't see infrared light either, we won't be bother by it. Else all those TV controllers would have fried our brains long ago LOL
