Took this photo at noon today.....

Kelly_Haller Apr 27, 2007 07:32 PM

Caught them late last night but did not want to turn on the lights for a photo. Came home at noon today and they were still locked up. Jud's male has never failed, and this will be the 4th litter he has produced if it takes. This will be the first time for this female. I raised her up from our first litter produced in 2001. She is between 13.5 and 14 feet and a little over 100 lbs. Jud's male has grown and he is now at exactly 12.75 feet and 68 lbs. This is the largest male green anaconda that I know of in captivity. He definitely has the routine down.

I wish you and Jud all the best in this breeding. Should be interesting with the new female. My pair of greens I got from you and Jud are doing great. They eat like clockwork and seem to get even tamer as time passes. They are the most docile snakes I have ever encountered. Bill

Looks great Kelly.....Has anyone besides me produced yellows on this forum?......Looks like Ben may deliver the goods this year too......less than 2 more months for me.

Big congrats Kelly!!! Can't wait to see something come from the female! Wish you the best of luck on the pair!

And yep mjf, hopefully my female will drop... I have no time limit on her since I didn't really catch any big ovulation or anything, she just partially inverts from time to time and is pretty bloaty looking. I'll see if I can dig up a pic or two and post in a few.

Hey Ben....add 120 days from her first shed after ovulation and you should get a ball park figure......you will probably get 1 interim shed as well.............Mike

I never caught an official ovulation, she has shed one time and I've been counting days, but I'll just keep updated on it!

Thanks a lot!

will be interesting to see if she takes, and how the fertility rate turns out. Thanks again,

Kelly

First, BIG congrats on that breeding. Juds male sure is huge, I can't even tell which snake is which.

However, I think the Milwaukee County Zoo may have Jud beat. They certainly have the biggest male I have seen in person, or in any photo. I do not want to start plugging in numbers, as I am sure I would be wrong, but I certainly didn't believe it was a male.

Also, that female of mine...it's a male. This snake had absolutely no spurs 2 months ago. It took heavy digging into the scales to even see a hint of a spur. The snake turned 4 years this month and is about 7-8 ft & around 15 lbs. (small for either sex at this age but you know how it ate the first two years)

Anyway, the first week in March, the spurs "came out." And they look to be in male form. It seems I am also seeing spurm in the water, starting at this time.

Have you seen this before?

Sorry to folks for not being around lately, I have been busy with lots of things and it is hard to give each forum attention.

Very cool! I hope it works out for you Kelly. I still am interested in at least one. Then again I will have to move a whole bunch of hatchlings myself to make room.

Jim
