I just got a rack for the first time. It has 5 shelves and I am using 32 qt sterilites,,,my question is should I drill holes in the sides of the tubs for more air? I tried to drill with a regular drill,,but it was very hard to go through.
Thanks

I'm a big believer in having too much ventilation vs. too little. My reasoning being that 1) most people seem to not use enough and 2) it's easy and safer to cover ventilation in an occupied enclosure vs. drill new holes in an occupied enclosure.
For drilling the holes you can use a new titanium bit or even pay a little extra and get a stepped drill bit. Like this:

I like the narrower ones with less taper for drilling plastic.
Other people like to melt holes with a soldering gun or a heated nail held with a pair of vice grips.

0.2 Gonyosoma oxycephala - Malaysian locale (green)
1.2 Gonyosoma oxycephala - Java local (green)
2.2 Gonyosoma janseni - Seleyar locale (all black)
1.2 Gonyosoma janseni - Celebes locale (Black & Tan)
Or you can use a soldering iron and melt the holes in the boxes...

Yes, you should put some holes in the sides, as well as the front and back of the tubs. For the sides I like to hold a wooden yard stick under the outside rim of the tub and then drill every 2" with a 5/32" drill bit. You can put them every inch after that if you want, and you can use a slightly larger bit too..... these just work well for me. I always drill from the inside -> out and clean up the stray plastic with a razor blade.
