I made a visit to the Columbus zoo today and had a chance to view life at its best. As I approached the Aldabra enclosure I watched the large female grazing grass right infront of me. Then the large male comes right up to her and mounts her, it was awesome. I have seen smaller torts go at it, but watching these gentle giants was amazing. From the sounds of the shells rubbing together to the deep rather comical grunts from the male. The best part of the experience was when a little girl standing next to me says "mommy, what are those big turtles doing?". I broke out laughing...
It was a huge dissapointment though when I pulled out my camera, turned it on, and the battery died instantly... what a bummer.
