Hello , ive recently aquired 2 new geckos at a snake show yesterday
there so cute anyway i have one male sopposly ? there 9 months old
hes digging ? in sand we have in the tank
( yes i know its bad for them but the heating pad gets too hot so ive read if we use sand its ok ( i put newspaper on top of it but he just seems to squrim under the paper towels anyway
hes in his own tank with all his assessories he needs .. i was just wondering if hes digging for a reason or hes just a digger ? and or stressed from the ride home possibley ?

anyone know a good side i can relate to to see if hes sex is right ? i still think he is a she but i dont really wanna hold him becuase hes been stressed from the ride home

thanks for any info .

Who knows why he is digging. Maybe he likes to dig.

As far as the temperature and the sand is concerned this is my opinion on it. We dont use sand in our enclosures for our leos. Impaction being the number one concern. You said the heat was getting to high so you are useing sand. Unless you are useing a deeper level of sand then it is probablly still to warm. Example: 95 degrees is 95 deegres no matter what the surface is made of. Go to home depot and pick yourself up a dimmer switch in the fan and lighting section. they cost like 10 bucks and you simply plug the uth into the switch and then the switch into the wall. Chevck your temps as you would and atleast this way you can control the heat out put. Better yet buy a thermostat and that is even less of a headache!

Yea I really dont know what to tell you about the digging.
Ours are all on tile and slate rock so they dont get a chance to dig. I wouldnt worry yourself over it unless there is reason for concern.
