? on carpet python/maclottes hybrid

MikeT Apr 29, 2007 10:07 AM

A friend of mine said he thinks either his coastal, or jcp bred his maclottes python. She laid eggs which are due in the next few weeks. Is this a possability, and if so, are the babies worth any significant amount of money?
Thanks for any info.

Yes it is possible and has been done but does it really matter if they are worth a bunch of money? Hybrids are interesting and fun, the money is a secondary issue really.
Tell your friend I wish him the best.

People are bored trying to refine species and with breeding same species, Like yasser said, it has been done, but its very rare, As far as worth....A while back someone was selling "Tribrids" for THOUSANDS of dollars...So...Best of luck... Maybe you will make it rich....

Yes it was NERD about a year and some back, they weren’t a fortune. I recall they were only 25% mascots. Cool looking but not a whole lot of money. That doesn’t mean that others haven’t sold for a lot more. (I almost got one myself)

Actually they would not be a tri-cross, just a cross. he's not sure if she was bred by the jcp OR coastal carpet. As far as money, this guy is dirt poor, so the money would definately be huge for this guy and I'd love to be able to tell him it could have some big financial wind-fall for him. Would a simple cross be worth money still?
Thanks again,

Crosses and intergrades are between species, but what he did is a Hybrid between two different Species......The best suggestion I have is for your friend to set a price and go from there, Hybrids are somewhat Rare in the Morelia world, but then again the market for Hybrids is not big either, so you pretty much have to set your price, what you think you want for them, and you can always go down from there..

If I am not mistaken I think the Carplots (Carpet X Macklots) that NERD produced sold for around $1k. $800 seems to be sticking in my mind for some reason.

Neat because it can be done, but nothing really wild looking. Kind of like ugly carpets in my opinion.

Nerd produced some junglots a while ago. thsoe were tri-brids. He intially breed a coastal carpet to a macklotti and then back to a jungle carpet... and they are selling cheap.. i talked to Kevin a few weeks ago and he had some left too, ithink he was asking $400 or something for em. no one wants em.
