They live in central Mexico, just north of Mexico City.

What Jeff said (Central Mexico) but restricted to the high plateaus I believe, at what elevations I'm not sure. Ruthveni are considered montane kingsnakes, and should be kept like Arizona mtn kings. One theory states that they are the root kingsnake for many species and subspecies, and the root form somehow remained in this area. I am curious myself what the terrain looks like in their habitat. To breed them, a long brumation helps.
