Ok.....this is the first kingsnake forum message I have ever left and it's going to be lengthy. I have been keeping frogs for @ 4 years now. I have a variety (1 African Bullfrog, 1 Budgets, 6 Vietnamese mossy, 1 Tomato, and 8 Red eye. They are all in great shape and have been for years. My problem is that I obtained six Megophrys Nasuta and now I have one! I got one group of two about a year and a half ago. They were very small when I got them. They died within two days. About six months ago I got a group of four. Two died within three days. I got really frustrated because I am very anal about my animals and I know for a fact that I take care of them ALL properly on a DAILY basis. I figured it must be parasites since they were all wild caught. I looked up and found a very highly recommended vet here in Houston. We found out from fecal samples that they were loaded down with hook and round worms. They als had a lung parasite called rabdias I believe. The doc de-wormed the remaining two with injections on 3 seperate occations. I also gave them seperate amicasin bath soaks that the doc mixed up for me once daily for a month. The last fecal he ran said that we wiped out the lung parasites, but there were still hook and round worms. He gave me some de-worming medication and showed me how to administer it oraly. I did this 3 days in a row. The last treatment was last Thursday. I do it again in two weeks, then take another fecal to be ran. One of the specimens died this after noon........The other looks ok. However, today is Sunday so I still need to call my vet in the morning. I have had them housed seperately in plastic sweater boxes on damp paper towels for at least five months now and I clean them out every day until all parasites have been taken care of. I have been doing everthing that I could and it seemed to be fine........... The main reason for me writing all this is to see if there is anyone out there who has been working with or keeping theese frogs for more than a years time. All of the stuff I've been finding on the internet isn't helping at all really. It seems that no one has been very sucsessfull with theese guys. I've spent alot of time and money and I know that's the deal when you keep wild caught animals and that thats just part of the battle, but I feel like I'm loosing the war now. If anyone else could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
