Radiated Ratsnake Egg Laying Sequence

souix Apr 30, 2007 08:16 AM

They were paired between 13th and 25th April which gives a gestation period of between 35-47 days, she shed on the 25th April and laid last night giving (30.04.2007)

First stages of labour, you can clearly see the remaining three eggs in her as she contracts to push them out

Tail up and the egg is crowning

Finally out after approx 2 mins

Single egg weighing 15g

Took approx 2 mins to push each egg out and then perhaps 5 minutes to slowly push the next one down then a rest there was approx 10 mins between eggs. The female was comatized didn't flinch , move at all throughout except for her tail end which she would position ready to lay the next egg ... Ten eggs were laid in total and yes me did sit up all night and watch it was brilliant

Thanks John & Peter .. I think I may of been a little eggcited in my original post *groan* 'They were paired between 13th and 25th April' this of course should be 13th and 25th March.

John you got any mandarin projects on the go this year?

Some of my other asians are only just getting frisky, I have one gravid climc who's in her pre laying slough but the other female is only just being mated. The flavolineatus are also just becoming aware of one another.

Good luck to you and all who pop there head into this post with your breeding projects this year
