Ornate eggs! YEAH!

gexy May 01, 2007 06:42 AM

One of my female ornates has finally dropped her eggs. 11 in total! It looks like only half are fertile, which isn't bad because she is young and this will be her first clutch. I'm sooo egg-cited I just had to share! I'm still waiting for my Somalian(Macfadyeni) to drop eggs too. she's been digging vigerously in her nest box for a couple of days now.

Congratulations! I wish you success in hatching them. I had eggs last year, and it looks like my one girl will lay soon, but I wrecked the eggs rather quickly and had 10 fertile ones. IF I get good eggs this year, I will try to get them to a reptile shop and have them incubate them. My hovabator probably is not the best incubator for uro eggs, but was ok for monitor eggs. Best of luck to you!

Congrats!!! Will the babies be pets as well or are you selling them? Best of luck,
HH

I will pobably sell some and keep some! I'm also anxious for my Somalian (u. macfadyeni)to lay her eggs because if they're fertile the offspring will be SomalianXSaharan babies! I don't think that has ever been done before. So my fingers are crossed!

In that case I'd be super-interested to see them also, have you seen any research on recessive and dominant traits in Uro's like the stuff that's out for snakes?
