I have been looking for a breeder of eastern kings that have thin bands with a "real" black background. Where did you get him/her from...or do you breed them....where are you located.

I'm in Tallahassee, FL. The parents were collected late last year in Wakulla Co., FL. And they both were found in the exact same spot so that is about as locale specific as you can get. Here is a pic of the male:

They look very black in the pictures but really are more of a dark, dark brown. If you're interested, I'll have offspring up for sale next year. This year I'm keeping one pair and selling another pair to a friend. But the remaining 8 are being released where I found the parents.
They are lovely kings. And its good to hear that you are releaseing the babies this year. I am in Vermont, so you are to far away and I don't like to ship. But I'll keep looking in my neck of the woods. As a side note....it would be nice if every year you could release a few of the babies...just to help out the local pop.
