No shed yet?

albking May 01, 2007 09:20 PM

I have a kingsnake that I got just over 2 months ago, it is young and about 12 inches long. He has eaten regularly since i got him, at least once a week with no problems. He eats one pinky and sometimes even two if he still looks like he's searching for food after the first. I have not seen his eyes cloud over yet and am wondering if I should be worried that he has not shed. I was away for one weekend about 2 weeks ago and when I came back his colour seemed a little less vibrant, So I thought maybe i just missed the clouding of his eyes and he would shed soon. But he still hasn't, has anyone had a similar experience or know of any reasons why this could be? should I be worried? Thanks in advance.

Don't worry too much about it.
If you want to induce a shed - give it a particularly big meal - IE a small fuzzy.

OK - I don't know that is proven to induce a shed, but it seems to for me unless it has *just* shed.

well i had a garter that went about 5-6 months without shedding. i was wondering what the hell is wrong. u just have to give them time. they will shed eventually. as long as their health seems ok it shouldnt be a problem. the cage may also be very dry. maybe misting every 2-3 days will help.
