Next to lay

KenCasstevens May 02, 2007 02:17 AM

These should be my next two females to lay. The first one is a huge msp who just had her pre-egg laying shed 2 days ago. She's the only pissy Thayeri I've got. Most of my snakes are named for TV characters mainly from favorite old sit-coms. Since she has such an attitude I named her Carla from my favorite show ever- Cheers.

The next one is an 03 Vivid female that will be giving it a go for the first time. She is a couple days from her pre-egg laying shed so she's a little dull looking right now, but still gorgeous none the less.

By the way her name is Lucy, and yes this is Ricky pictured. I got them in together from Tim.

Congrats... I hope they are all fertile! That one in the last picture is really cool. I like the peppered color on that one.

girls look like they are ready to go. good luck with them, i would like to see a picture of lucy when she sheds. i tend to name my snakes after anything they remind me of, or if something just fits. Lenny is named after Lenny Lenardson from the simpsons. Evelyn is named after a song by My Morning Jacket "Evelyn is not real". so if something fits i name it.

Very cool Ken. Looks like you're on your way to having a bunch of hatchlings in about 80 days.

I've had three ladies drop clutches over the last week and so far I've gotten clutch sizes of 10; 13; 14 and only one dud in the whole lot. Fertility was excellent this year. I'm guessing it was the really cold winter in VA.

Congrats on the nice clutchs Russ. I am originally from Norfolk, VA, and remember those cold winters. Now I live in Memphis, and we don't get squat for winter weather. I sure miss it.

Geez Russ, you must have gotten started early this year. 36 eggs from 3 female is pretty darn good. Good luck with them this year. We've had some cool weather here this spring with lots of rain and cooler temp this year. I'm hoping for the best with some more experienced females this year.

And Ken I didn't know you were from Norfolk. I spent a few years there in the late 70's and early 80's there. I did a ton of herping right there around Norfolk. It was really good back then.

yeah it's pretty neat and I still have another girl to go. No second clutches for me this year...one and done. The fertility rate is what I'm so excited about...darn near 100%.

Ken,

What a sweetie! I like her coloration and the saddle "splits" are a nice touch from the Thayeri Gods to you...can't wait to see her offsprings' photo's when mother nature opens the "Box of Thayeri's" on hatch day! Ha! Ha!

Later,
Jim.
