Use of Excenel on aboreal boids?

Hello,
I had a gree tree python with a bad prolapse recently and the vet put her on a course of treatment with excenel/ceftiofur, in case of infection from her inflamed bowels. Has anyone else had a reptile on this antibotic, I have only seen it used on farm animals? Any precautions, comments...
