National Leopard Tort List has begun

benA May 02, 2007 06:00 AM

The list has begun and is up to 12 tortoises and counting. So far the minimum weight to make the list is 10 lbs (or close to it).

Please send me your leopard tortoise data:

Name
Age (year of birth)
Weight
Length
Sex
State you are in
email (kept confidential)
Photo (only if you want to)

I am starting this list because ever since I got my first Leopard 4 years ago I have had trouble finding good information about growth rates, sizes, etc. I think this could be interesting information that anyone could have if they wanted it. It is based on trust that people are giving accurate info.

Thank-you,

Ben

If you are interested in growth rates why would you start the list at 10lbs? seems like there is alot more juvinile leos that adults but I'd be interested in all sizes.
good idea though kudos!!

I figured 10 lbs because I didn't want to track 5000 torts. The info would be great to have but below a certain weight the list might not be managable. Maybe 5lbs would be a better limit.

Just and update - I have received a lot of resistance from breeders - they are very protective of their stock. They don't want to share it and they don't want people to know what they have.

I am still hoping!

Ben
