HB 2414 Set on House Calendar for 5/4

Eby May 02, 2007 11:00 PM

BAD NEWS!

It's gonna get heard on the floor.

Now me MUST get it amended, get it voted down, or kill it in the Senate.

We must get in touch with or local reps today, this thing has lost a lot of support since we organized an opposition to it. We need to put a fresh bug in their ear about this bill. Ask them to either propose and amendment or oppose it.

I know they are on our side with this issue, but just tried to get a feel for it hitting the floor.

What I know - The exclusion has not been accepted as an amendment at this time. But they are still working very hard on it for us. I did name my local rep as a possible supporter they could contact (Hope that was not a bad move).

What I think - This think is on the fence right now, could fall to either side, I was hoping for a good feel on the situation when I called the reps office.

What might help - Any rep you know that supports our side on this issue should be put in the corner with our favorite rep to get this amended. I am not dropping any names because this forum is too open, but any rep that has an interest in seeing this amended should be working together. Drop their name at this favorite reps office as somebody they should contact on this bill. I hope that if we can get a small group of them to speak up at once it will carry more weight and hit the committee again for our exclusion??

Plan B - If this think escapes the House in an unfavorable format we need to know what committee it will land in at the Senate side. We need to be talking to them now to express our concerns and seek an exclusion if it gets that far. Who knows what Senate Committee this will land in if it makes it out of the house?

I've called today until my ear is about to fall off. I'd just like to reiterate a point made earlier. Please don't mention any names of the folks that you spoke with other than the rep. himself. It has upset a few folks and we need them on our side.
