FL show prices vs. kingsnake prices

LordDreyfus May 03, 2007 09:46 AM

I'll be attending the big Florida show this year...something I've longed to do for years. Are the prices we see on Kingsnake pretty representative of the prices I'll see there? Kingsnake is usually cheaper than the nearby shows....even when you throw in shipping. I don't know whether to jump on some deals I've seen, or hoard all my money up for August.

Prices are all relative. It depends on the breeder and the bloodline of the animal. Breeders with better reputations deserve more business and tend to command higher prices. Snakes from premier bloodlines are in high demand and do so as well.

Selective breeding plays a lot into prices, for example Kahl albinos currently range between $500-$2000 for a simple Albino. What kind of boa are you looking for in any given range determines the price, both what you think it is worth and what the breeder thinks it is worth.

Just treat it like any other Flea Market
On a three day show I wouldnt start shopping until about the last three hours on the third day. Some dealers will have already come down abit.
Straight up offer them 65% of their asking price,if they pass then bump it to 75%.If they still decline your offer bid them a good day and proceed to leave their table. If you really got to have it make another pass by the table in about and hour and give the animal one more look, make the 75% offer again then remind them it will ride home with them and theyll be the one feeding it next week

Just remember Political Correctness cost money and the Flashy Iconic name brands are no better then the little guys selling healthy properly represented animals.
No need in supporting Unions when there are plenty that are Self Employed.

Nothing gets attention like a roll of twenties (with the possible exception of racking the slide of a pump shotgun.) I was at Daytona one year and some of the vendors' credit card machines were down that day.
